Try one of the many excursions offered to fantastic beaches, ancient cities and locations with historic significance. You can Visit the Minoan ruins at Knossos, the largest gorge in europe "The Samaria Gorge" or the crystal clear waters of Elafonisi Island.
The day starts at 10am at the Kissamos Port where we board the Gramvousa Ferry. We set off for the island of Gramvousa which takes approximately 45 minutes. The ferry has a kitchen with extensive dishes for meals or snacks. You can sit back on a deck chair or in the lounge. On the way we see the elevation of the land along the cliff edges of Crete. This elevation has happened over 2000 years. The ferry makes a close pass of an abandoned pirates cave.
Once we arrive to the island of Gramvoussa you can either have a swim in the crystal clear waters, or you can take a hike to the top of the island where there is a Venetian Castle. The fortress is impressively intact. During the Ottoman rule the Cretans had made a last stand here against the turks. The views from this point are sectacular.
Back on the boat we pass the Wild Grambousa Island and head toward the pristine Balos Lagoon. We arive where we are given ample time to bathe in the waters that start with the coral sands and gradually end in the deepest blue. This area is remote, you will hear the wild goats in the mountain, sometimes the goats come down and pass further on.
You may at any time go back to the boat for food. You may also hire umbrellas if the heat is too intense. When you have had your fix of the lagoon, the boat will take us straight back to the port of Kissamos. This is a great photo opportunity as the sun will be behind you as you look out to the scenery of the island.
